Site safety: Fumes

Eye for detail recently finished a beautiful Eucalyptus stair-overlay in Auckland's Westmere. It was one of those jobs EFD looks forward to, using high quality materials with our finishing tools.

However even when the powertools go away and you're left with the varnishing, safety never sleeps. Working in confined spaces like a stairwell, or even just working along side solvents in general is something that should be taken very seriously.

Gas masks, gloves, and in some cases safety goggles should be worn when dealing with toxic substances. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is easy to incorporate into everyday practise and is one of the things that separates the pro's from the cowboys.
