Site safety: Fumes
Eye for Detail recently finished a beautiful Eucalyptus stair-overlay in Auckland's Westmere. It was one of those jobs we look forward to, using high quality materials with our finishing tools.
However, even when the power tools are packed away and you're left with the varnishing, safety never sleeps. Working in confined spaces like a stairwell, or even just working alongside solvents in general is something that should be taken very seriously.
Gas masks, gloves, and in some cases safety goggles should be worn when dealing with toxic substances. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is easy to incorporate into everyday practice and is one of the things that separates the pros from the cowboys.
