From Storage Room to Stylish Bathroom

This downstairs storage room was converted into a bathroom to service the downstairs flat.

Due to the floor being below the outside ground level, we installed sanitary pumps to remove the wastewater. With the concrete slab subfloor, we raised the shower height to create the necessary fall from the shower trap to the pump.

Our client also wanted to add a washing machine, so to avoid the room feeling like a laundry, we created a custom concrete vanity and bespoke cabinetry to discreetly hide the pumps and washing machine.

The house chimney base ran directly into the room, which we turned into a feature by incorporating the brickwork with spotlights, shelving, and a heated towel rail.

This project is a perfect example of how challenges can be transformed into design features—there's always a solution.
