Downstairs Bathroom
This was a downstairs storage room we converted into a bathroom to service the downstairs flat.
Because the floor level of the room was below the exterior ground level, we needed to install sanitary pumps to remove the wastewater. With the subfloor being a concrete slab, we needed to raise the height of the shower to create fall from the shower trap to the pump.
Our client took the opportunity to add a washing machine. To make the room look less like a laundry, we installed a custom concrete vanity with bespoke cabinetry to hide the sanitary pumps and washing machine.
As the base of the home's chimney ran straight down into the room, we took the opportunity to make a feature of the brick work with spotlights, shelving and the heated towel rail in the brick cavity.
This project is a great example of how you can make a feature out of what seems to be an obstacle - there is always a solution.
